Shortening The Marketing Route Of Our Fruit

As a quality-oriented grower-driven marketing company, our primary emphasis is on shortening the marketing route of our fruit. We do this by using efficient supply chains and an extensive distribution network, specifically developed in our local and international markets.

We’ve adopted this approach to maximise the returns to our producers, who are all based locally in the Tzaneen area of South Africa’s Limpopo province.

Local marketing

We have been involved in local marketing within South Africa since 2005. Initially we focused on municipal markets, but have grown to include supermarket chains, category managers and value-adding entities in our marketing strategy to optimise producer returns even further. On the avocado front, the local market is an essential outlet for the greenskin cultivars. The Hass cultivar is extensively used in ‘ripe and ready’ programmes as its popularity among local consumers has been growing constantly. Leandré Buys is Afrupro’s Marketing Specialist. International Marketing

Over the past 17 seasons, we have developed a strategically laid out and well-balanced marketing network in Europe and the UK that considers all the variables of each particular season and cultivar to ensure we optimise our returns. The network comprises different importers and category managers in every important market segment to cover a wide base of programmes to supermarkets and other well-established outlets. Sound, long-term relationships are key to the success of this campaign. Afrupro’s Commercial Manager, Brenda Greyvensteyn is responsible for Afrupro’s international marketing.
